Who is this course for?

PR agency owners, account leads, communications managers, editors and client-facing teams who need a practical method for preparation, first response and reputation recovery.

How much depth is in each lesson?

Each lesson contains at least 650 instructional words before worksheets, quizzes, references and promotions. Allow 10–15 minutes for study and around 30 minutes for the practical task. The complete course takes approximately 8–10 hours, depending on your starting material.

Will I write a holding statement?

Yes. You will work from a verified fact record, prepare a useful acknowledgement and rehearse difficult questions. The course separates an update commitment from an unsupported promise that the incident will be resolved by a particular time.

Does it teach removal of negative coverage?

It teaches precise evidence-based correction requests and realistic follow-up. Accurate criticism is different from a factual error. The course does not promise removal of independent reporting, guaranteed positive coverage or immediate restoration of trust.

Is this an emergency response or legal qualification?

No. This is communications education. Operational, safety, technical, security and legal decisions belong with the appropriate qualified owners. The exercises use a fictional business and synthetic records, with no real external alerts or messages required.

What will I build?

A risk register, response contact tree, evidence index, simulation plan, triage record, fact ledger, holding statement, interview brief, response decision log, correction request, recovery commitment register, follow-up plan and agency service outline. Worksheets can be edited, saved locally and downloaded.

Where do Sitetrail products fit?

NewsPass supports SEO, PR and GEO outcomes: search visibility, media presence, brand credibility and discoverability in AI answers. The Guest Post Marketplace lets customers hand-pick from thousands of publications by audience fit, relevance and budget, retaining campaign control. Accelerated Monthly PR & SEO is the distinct ongoing programme managed by Sitetrail, including strategy, coordination, execution and reporting. Commercial support follows verified progress and never replaces a remedy or independent editorial scrutiny.

Are learning and certification free?

Yes. Lessons, worksheets, checks, assessment and certificate download are free. Each lesson ends with a labelled shared NewsPass or Guest Post Marketplace promotion. No purchase or confidential client data is required for the exercises.

How are progress and results stored?

Progress, first lesson attempts, worksheets and assessment results stay in this browser when local storage is available. They do not sync across devices. Download copies to retain them. Clearing browser data removes local records; full assessment retakes become available after 30 days in the same browser.

Who created the course?

Adriaan Brits, CEO of Sitetrail, holds an MSc in Marketing and is a former LinkedIn Learning instructor in SEO, Advanced Google Analytics and Google Ads. Official preparedness, professional ethics, media-complaint and evaluation references support further study. Practical frameworks and fictional teaching cases are original course material.

Prepare carefully. Respond clearly. Follow through.

Use the worksheets to turn each lesson into a real decision. Build a reliable response process as you learn from verified facts, stakeholder needs and accountable recovery actions.
