Module 01 / Lesson 04 · Read, apply, check
Build a small set of packages around client goals, evidence readiness and accurately described media routes.
A package should answer a recognizable need: entering a sector, improving expert credibility, supporting a launch or maintaining a visible body of useful information. Describe the audience and the change the client wants to observe. Then identify the evidence, channels and agency activities that plausibly support that change. Avoid building three tiers by multiplying article counts while leaving the strategy identical. A more expensive tier should add a meaningful capability, level of coordination or breadth of work. If the client cannot explain why that addition matters, the package may be a sales ladder rather than a useful service design.
Earned outreach seeks independent editorial attention based on relevant information and sources. Paid or sponsored placements purchase a commercial route with its own terms and disclosures. Membership-based content follows the programme’s eligibility and editorial conditions. Owned content provides a controlled home for explanations and evidence. A package can combine these routes, but it must identify them separately. The client should know what the agency controls, what a supplier controls and what remains subject to an editor’s choice. Route clarity belongs in the offer itself, not in a footnote revealed after a recognizable publication logo has done the selling.
NewsPass supports SEO, PR and GEO goals through search visibility, media presence, credibility and discoverability in AI answers, without guaranteeing any external system’s response. The Guest Post Marketplace lets customers hand-pick from thousands of publications by audience fit, relevance and budget while retaining campaign control. Accelerated Monthly PR & SEO is a managed programme in which Sitetrail handles strategy, coordination, execution and reporting around the customer’s goals. These are distinct buying choices. Match the product to the responsibility the client wants to retain or delegate, and verify current features and terms before quoting rather than treating all three as interchangeable placement bundles.
Define who each package is for and what must be ready: a spokesperson, reliable source material, an approval owner or a usable landing page. State exclusions such as crisis response, additional markets, unrestricted revisions or guaranteed newsroom acceptance. Include a review point where evidence or priorities can change the plan. Price external costs transparently enough for the client to understand the route and any management fee. A coherent package reduces repeated sales explanation, but it should not force a poor-fit client into unsuitable work. Offer a diagnostic or a smaller phase when the prerequisites are not yet in place.
Identify the audience and desired change.
Check evidence, spokesperson and approvals.
Give earned, paid and owned work distinct jobs.
Define scope, responsibility and review gates.
Fictional manufacturer Vale Components wants credibility with engineering buyers before entering a new region. Its agency proposes a foundation package: customer interviews, a technical evidence page and a focused outreach plan. A broader option adds spokesperson preparation and a hand-picked Marketplace campaign aimed at relevant industry audiences. Publication choices and budget remain visible to the client. A third option adds ongoing coordination and reporting rather than merely more articles. The agency explains that independent journalist coverage remains contingent on editorial interest and that commercial placements will be labelled accurately in reports. Because the client has not secured permission for its strongest customer example, the first milestone is evidence readiness. The proposal therefore begins with work the team can deliver and a decision gate, instead of charging immediately for a campaign whose central proof does not yet exist.
A competing proposal offers bronze, silver and gold packages containing three, six and twelve unspecified media features. It shows prestigious logos without describing the route or audience. The client assumes the top tier buys independent endorsement and chooses it for that reason. Even if every supplier delivers an article, the package has created an expectation the actual work cannot meet. More outputs amplify the misunderstanding instead of creating a more valuable campaign.
A recognizable media name is not a package strategy. The publication’s relevant audience, the nature of the content and the intended use matter more than its logo alone. Packages should help the client choose a sensible level of work and responsibility, with commercial route distinctions clear before they commit their budget.
Product inventory, eligibility, pricing and features change. Check the live Sitetrail product pages and the actual supplier terms when preparing a proposal. Illustrative packages here are teaching examples, not quotations or guarantees of rankings, independent coverage, referral traffic or inclusion in AI-generated answers.
