StumbleUpon Copies Pinterest With New Site Design

In recent years Stumbleupon lost its way and became one of those tech companies that couldn’t figure out the ‘new’ rules of the game. Without being very punitive with my pun, Stumbleupon started to stumble—badly.
But now things are starting to come round again; there’s new leadership at the top and developers have taken a page from Pinterest’s book to launch a completely revamped website.
Pinterest as you may know is all about aesthetics with uber-functionality and this is precisely what the guys over at Stumbleupon have gone far. The new design takes the Pinterest flair for visually appealing colors and spacing and has given Stumbleupon a look that is more in line with the times. The new design allows users to have color-coded stumbles. Stumbles will also now be able to be sorted by lists (much like the boards on Pinterest), and all in all, the new design looks peppy and pleasing to the eye. Sort of makes you want to create a stumble just to see how things work.
Users have been mixed on the new look but the comments seem to be trending towards overall experience. As one user quipped, “Nice design but still they have the old sharing style need to change as well.”
You can’t please them all, but if Stumbleupon is to make a comeback and stay relevant, bold changes like these need to happen often.
