Localytics Raises $5.5 Million in Funding

Developers for popular platforms like Android and Apple’s iOS have long since struggled in finding effective ways to keep in touch with the users of their apps. Most resort to tactics like obtrusive banners and sneaky redirects, but thanks to Localytics, all this may change soon.

Localytics lets developers communicate in effective and non-obtrusive ways via in-app messaging and the company is looking to create quite a stir in the apps marketing space. Just recently the company managed to raise $5.5 million from VC Polaris Ventures. The money will be used to scale the platform which presently supports more than 350 million devices.

CEO and co-founder Raj Aggarwal believes that app marketing and user engagement is ripe for the picking: “App marketers have an amazing opportunity, they’ve already built a personal relationship with users and have a place on their phone or tablet. Our app marketing platform builds on app analytics to optimize communication with those app users when and where messages can have the greatest impact — while they’re using their apps.”

With both Apple and Windows looking to come out with updated mobile offerings, the timing of the capital injection couldn’t have been better for Localytics. No doubt new features will come to the platform and help developers cover greater ground when communicating with the millions of people that use apps.
