Fotopedia Hits 3 Billion Image Views
Photo sharing seems to do well no matter the medium or platform and iPad-based Fotopedia has shown just what is possible. The app, since launching in October 2008, has amassed over 3 billion image views.
There are an estimated 14 million users who together help generate 250,000 daily unique visits and over 250 million pageviews a month. Needless to say this is a lot of activity and Fotopedia is taking note.
The company, who last June launched in-show ads with several key partners, is now looking to add more advertisers and incorporate self-serve ads into the mix. 24% of Fotopedia users come from China and the company is working with advertisers to market destinations that are vogue right now for the Chinese. Asia accounts for 40% of the activity on the app.
Click-through rates are also very good and according to the company’s senior VP Christophe Daligault, rates are as high 6.2% with a low of 3.2%. Such high CTRs on ads will no doubt attract even more advertisers and with travel being such a lucrative space, Fotopedia’s inherent value could very well start to increase.
The growth of the app shows in no small measure what building on a growing platform can do. Since the company launched its magazine-style layout in June, users have steadily flocked to use the app. And by the looks of things, Fotopedia is just getting started.
