MovieClips Raises $18.5 Million In Funding
The concept itself isn’t ground-breaking; assemble movie clips into bite sized chunks and make it digestible for movie lovers. This simple way of presenting media has helped MovieClips.com build quite a reputation for itself and now things are about to get even better.
Thanks to $18.5 million in funding, MovieClips is looking to rebrand itself as Zefr and offer more by way of content to its legion of users. Aside from just clips, MovieClips is aiming to make movie-discovery easier for fans and has made available a tagging and clipping technology built around sharing. Already there are over 25,000 such clips on its main site and the MovieClips Youtube channel is mounting the ComScore charts. To date it has racked up over 600 million monthly views. In all the channel has seen more than 3 billion total views, and given that it was founded just 10 months ago, 3 billion views is massive!
MovieClips under its new mandate will also offer a lot more than just movie clips. Offerings will now expand to include TV shows, Music and Sports—all things that will make the brand even more popular. Backed by solid funding and strong partnerships with big-name Hollywood studios, MovieClips looks poised to dominate the media space.
Throw in some social media integration and its founders will have a monster on their hands.
