Facebook Has 235 Million Monthly Gamers
No other social networking platform needs to up engagement like Facebook; with its stock price in free-fall and the company looking every bit unlike the ‘promise’ of 12 months ago, the push to keep users happy is on in a real way.
Facebook overtook Yahoo recently as the second most loved video platform in America and now it seems it’s becoming quite a destination for gamers too. New figures released confirms that Facebook now gets over 235 million monthly gamers—up from the 205 million it received a year ago.
Although the gaming numbers are flash in the pan compared to the actual users overall, Facebook seems committed to increasing this engagement with games. The reasoning behind the desire is simple: if more people hang around Facebook and play games, they’ll be ready and primed for advertising.
Facebook is also bolstering engagement by revamping many of its traditional centers on the platform. Its App center for instance has had a fresh lick of pain and now attracts more than 150 million monthly users. Facebook seems committed to maintaining strong numbers both on the mobile side of things as well as the web and nothing is more powerful in achieving this than eye-popping and engaging games and apps.
Will this new surge in gaming engagement help save the Facebook stock? Only time will tell. Advertising is what will ultimately rescue Facebook.
