HootSuite Is Used By 20% Of Top Brands
Twitter relies heavily on third-party clients to help drive engagement and HootSuite is one of the top clients out there. Not just popular with ordinary users who need a single and dynamic third-party client to handle their Twitter accounts, but also by brands—some of the world’s top ones no less.
New data coming out of Pingdom suggests that 20% of the top 100 brands globally rely on HootSuite for management of their Twitter presence. This translates to around 96 brands which include the likes of IBM, H&M, and Tiffany & Co.
Slightly below HootSuite is TweetDeck and this third-party Twitter client is also very popular among brands. Yahoo, Sony and Louis Vuitton all use TweetDeck and the likes of Coco Cola, Blackberry and Ford all use SocialEngage.
The spread of use among Twitter clients suggests that most brands just want to use something to handle their accounts. While HootSuite may have the most users, it may not suggest in concrete terms that it is the ‘best’ client out there. Platforms like TweetDeck have improved and done so largely without the massive injection of capital that HootSuite has seen over the years.
HootSuite will no doubt build on this report from Pingdom and try to lure users over to its platform. Either way, Twitter or the brands win.
