TripAdvisor Reaches 75 Million Reviews

Getting people to write lengthy reviews about visits to holiday destination around the world is sometimes not the easiest task in the world, yet TripAdvisor seems to have pulled this off nicely.

Launched 12 years ago in order to fill the gap online for a credible source of news and reviews on everything from hotels to bars, TripAdvisor has grown steadily over the years and the company is announcing its 75 millionth review. The achievement comes after the site started seeing an increase in overall engagement and new user registrations.

It seems too that there are lots going on inside the TripAdvisor engine. There are a reported “32 million marketable members” registered on the site globally—a jump from the 20 million members that were recorded in 2011. The site is also filled with images from trips taken by its members. Users have submitted over 11 million pictures.

Users get to choose from 610,000 hotels; 880,000 restaurants and 200,000 attractions that are listed on the site. This massive choice pool has proven to be an effective strategy and over 56 million people use the site each month.

And the longest review? Well that was left for the Kandholhu Island Resort & Spa and clocked in at a whopping 9,000 words. Now that is either a very, very good experience or the worst holiday experience known to man, or woman.
