Showyou Has Over 50 Million Videos Indexed

Finding your favorite video on the go is sometimes a challenge, this is why Showyou was created. Launched last spring on the iPad, the app has proven tremendously popular among users and now has over 50 million videos indexed.

Now the start-up has launched the iPhone version of the app to its eager and loyal iOS users. What’s interesting too is how the app is used on both platforms. iPad users tend to consume more videos and for longer period of times than iPhone users. The theory behind this is that the iPad with the bigger screen can be used to watch things in bed perhaps after a long day, while iPhone users engage with the app purely for its mobile efficacy.

Showyou has taken a few steps also towards user experience. The iPhone version has been tailored to take account of the smaller screen real estate and now makes it easier for watched videos to be retrieved. This is done through a ‘walled’ popular videos feature—sort of like a favorites folder.

Observers are mixed on whether the app will make people watch more videos on the iPhone and iPad, but one thing is certain: “Show you makes for crisper and better videos.” And everybody loves those.
