LinkSmart Raises $4.7 Million In Funding
Online publishers now have another platform to monetize and make the most of their web links thanks to new startup, LinkSmart. The company which was founded by former DailyCandy CEO Pete Sheinbaum has just raised $4.7 million in a bid to spread the word about the new platform.
Sheinbaum is tapping into a space that been long realized as a goldmine but he seems genuinely excited about the company’s prospects: “The text link is this little innocuous thing that’s been on the Internet since the beginning of time, with all this latent potential. “We’re exposing this opportunity to publishers and giving them the tools to manage these links.”
LinkSmart will have three core components: the first will be the analytics side of things which will provide publishers with insights on how well their links are doing. Then there is the actual link management tools which give publishers the option to redirect a link’s traffic among other things. Finally and perhaps most important is the ability to automatically funnel stories to links thereby allowing for optimum link engagement on a particular publisher site.
The link management space isn’t crowded and most solutions don’t come with a $4.7 million backing. The challenge LinkSmart will have I suppose is how much more enticing it can make it’s services. Bear in mind too that there are basic CMS plugins on WordPress that do powerful things.
