SendGrid Hits 60,000 Customers And 45 Billion Email Deliveries
Email and email delivery doesn’t seem to slowing down one bit, and if SendGrid’s numbers are anything to go by, more and more businesses might very well start using email marketing in 2013 and beyond.
The email delivery company announced recently that in 2012 it delivered over 20 billion emails for 60,000 customers. All told the company has delivered more than 45 billion emails and there are no signs of slowing down.
It helps that SendGrid has some of the biggest names in social media and tech as clientele; companies like Foursquare, Pinterest, Airbnb, Spotify and Pandora all rely on SendGrid to send emails to their billions of users. No wonder then that SendGrid sends around 3 billion emails a month or just over 90,000 emails a minute.
Amazon entered the space with its own offering called Amazon’s Simple Email Service and so SendGrid isn’t resting on its laurels. The company raised $21 million in January in a bid to shore up its position and expand its services. The hope is that with social media companies discovering the importance of keeping in touch with their users, SendGrid can scale its numbers and take an even bigger piece of the email delivery pie.
The company is also looking to broaden its reach by offering cloud services and allowing developers to tap its API.
