57% Of Developers Want To Build On The Windows Phone

It looks like ‘sexy’ is finally a part of Microsoft’s ethos because they seem to be attracting developers all of a sudden. The company’s Windows Phone platform is apparently now favoured by 57% of developers who’ve expressed a strong desire to start building apps on the platform.

The numbers come from VisionMobile, a market analysis and strategy firm. According to the authors of the survey, the Windows Phone “is indeed the new cool”. VisionMobile did point out too that for that projection to become a reality, Apple and Android would need to either decline or fall flat in the rate at which it attracts developers.

The survey found that one of the main reasons developers are salivating at the mouth over Windows Phone is the ease at which it allows development. Coding and prototyping according to some is very easy and the development environment has a very low learning curve. Who would have thought someone would say those things about Microsoft; perhaps this sexy and cool approach would have helped it retain genuine loyalty to Windows Explorer over the years and Google Chrome wouldn’t have overtaken it this year as the world’s most popular web browser.

Whatever the outcome and however many developers Windows Phone attracts, it is clear that Microsoft will be doing better than Blackberry this year. Only about 4% of respondents said they would be developing for the floundering Blackberry line.
