Apple Has Sold 365 Million iOS Devices So Far

Sites include . Published on July 3rd, 2012. Written by Anthony West.

Apple’s products are a tad on the high-end when it comes to pricing but they are almost always very chic and full of class. This is perhaps why the company has manage to sell a lot of products, including iOS devices—the latter seeing stellar sales since launch.

The iOS platform was the talk of Apple’s 23rd Developer Conference and it was revealed that since going on sale, devices powered by the mobile operating system have surpassed the 365 million sales mark. But what was perhaps even more surprising is the fact that 80% of all devices sold now run the latest version of the operating system—iOS 5. In a world where every bit of advantage has to be taken, Apple’s Scott Forestall made the point that only about 7% of Android devices are running the latest version of its operating system.

Aside from chic and class Apple’s devices are also extremely functional and Forestall gave some insights about how these 365 million devices are being used in the real world. Around 11 billion tweets have been sent using iOS powered devices and almost half (47%) of all photo sharing on Twitter emanates from iOS devices.

These latest figures sort of makes you wonder what all this talk about Android is about; Google may be seeing 900,000 Android activations daily but clearly Apple is still the hottest game in town.
