Yahoo Mail Has 310 Million Users

Sites include . Published on June 30th, 2012. Written by Anthony West.

Yahoo Mail may not be getting the sort of press that Gmail or even Hotmail gets but this doesn’t mean that the platform isn’t still relevant. Despite many sounding the death knell of Yahoo Mail the platform continues to have a strong user base and currently boasts over 310 million users.

This figure may grow even more thanks in large part to a new partnership that Yahoo has struck with file management company YouSendIt. Free web based email clients as you may know are notorious for limiting the size of files that you can send but with this partnership users can send files way above the standard limit in Yahoo.

The integration will take place via an app and will allow users to send up to 50 files or 100MB maximum in total file size. This is a fourfold increase on the 25MB limit that Yahoo usually sets and may even prompt a mini-war among other players in the space. Google we mustn’t forget recently launched its own file storage service called Google Drive and so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to integrate that service into Gmail.

Whether this new move will be enough to lure more people to Yahoo is anyone’s guess. The service itself has been upgraded in recent months and it now has a nice slick UI. I rather suspect that the 310 million users are part of the Yahoo faithful. We’ll have to watch growth in the coming months.
