35% Of Internet Users Don’t Know How They’re Spending Their Time Online
The internet is a vast, expansive place. There are over 8.38 billion webpages—almost 4 times the number of people who are online presently. It sort of comes as no surprise then that a huge chunk of people don’t really know what they do online, or at least they can’t track their activity in some meaningful way.
This is what Brain Host, a popular web hosting solutions provider found out when they decided to dig deep into the inline habits of people. A whopping 35% of those surveyed couldn’t identify what they spent their online time doing. Only about 22.5% of people readily identified social networking as their core activity online with 7.6% of time spent online devoted to email. 4.4% was spent on videos while a handsome 9.5% was spent playing online games.
King of the social media jungle was of course Facebook. It was followed sharply by Youtube and then Twitter. Yahoo made a surprise showing with its ‘Answers’ platform and came in just ahead of Pinterest in the fourth position.
Still, the folks at Brave Host were probably not expecting to find such a huge block of people wondering aimlessly on the internet. It goes to show I suppose that when choice becomes too much, we sometimes wander off aimlessly into a sea of random activities.
