Apple has come out guns blazing at this year Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. The electronics giant aside from dominating mobile phones and the applications ecosystem is also a heavy player in the computer market.

The company used the platform to announce the upcoming MacBook Pro which will be fashioned in part on the MacBook Air. Coming at 15 inches (screen size), the model will boast the standard setting super high resolution ‘Retina’ display and like the MacBook Air will be super thin at 0.71 inches. Enthusiasts will have to fork out $2,199 to get their hands on one these beauties but like with all things Apple, cost is not expected to dent the thirst of buyers.

Apple may give the impression that computer sales aren’t a big part of its business but overall this sector continues to add tremendously to the Apple bottom line. 70% of Mac sales are attributable to laptops so computers and especially the MacBook is a big part of earnings.

All in all the company should add to the overall stash that sits in cash reserves. The iPhone 5 is yet to go on sales and the addition of the updated MacBook Pro should add to already bumper sales among the Apple product line.

  1. I am looking to buy a mac and I wanted to know what the difference is between the new Macbook, the Macbook Pro, and the Macbook Air. And if there is not really a difference then which one is better. I am a student so I wont be using it for other things like gaming. Just social networking and school work, surfing the net, and downloading music, and burning movies.
