Fandango Hits 34 Million Users

It’s been 12 years since Fandango sold its first ticket online and the company couldn’t have celebrated its 12ty birthday with more gusto. Fandango had what is calling one of its best months in 12 years. The online ticket seller saw a record breaking 34 million unique visitors for the month of May. In addition to the record braking number of visitors, Fandango also saw a whopping 28% of ticket sales being sold over mobile devices. The latter stat being a testament to Fandango is gaining credence among mobile users.

Fandango’s record month was due in large part to record breaking numbers at the Box Office and Marvel’s The Avengers contributed a big chunk of those million unique visitors. GM and VP Rick Butler was under no illusions about the contribution of big movie openings to Fandango’s success: “Fandango’s record-setting May is yet another signal of the incredible momentum behind Fandango right now. Our enormous network of theater screens and box office share, combined with our innovative mobile and social products as well as our extensive coverage of movie news and film reviews, has made Fandango an essential destination for moviegoers everywhere.”

It looks like things will only get better for Fandango in the coming years too. The company recently announced a partnership with Moviephone and this will only bode well for ticket sales. Add to that the most anticipated movie release in recent months (Dark Knight Rises) and Fandango could very well outdo its May performance.
