Pandora Hits 53.3 Million Users
In a bid to entice more advertisers to its online radio platform, Pandora has been updating all that will pay attention of its latest usage figures. Back in February the company announced that it had surpassed 49 million monthly active users and just recently it announced that that figure now stands at 53.3 million.
In all those 53.3 million users now account for 1.10 billion listening hours. The growth in both areas is telling in many ways. While the new monthly active users (MAU) figure represents a 52% jump year-on-year, the 1.10 billion listening hours represents an 87% increase year-on-year. This means of course that Pandora’s user base is a lot more engaged and this perhaps is what the company is hoping advertisers will see.
The company has made steady progress in capturing radio market share in the US and now owns over 5.80% of the market. It’s also managed to forge a few strategic partnerships, one of which being a deal with the Mazda car company who will be placing Pandora inside its car radio systems. Mazda along with 19 other car makers will help get people listening to Pandora as they go about their daily travels.
Overall Pandora is well placed; advertisers no doubt will have by now seen the potential benefits of using the platform and so it’s really just a matter of time before Pandora starts making money from its 53.3 million users.
