Howcast Hits 1 Billion Video Views

The humble ‘how to’ video is now the cornerstone of some of the web’s top video sharing site and Howcast is one of the best examples of this. The platform is built quite literally on ‘how to’ videos and it looks like the company is looking to scale things and make the platform more user-friendly.

The site recently surpassed the 1 billion views mark and in keeping with this growth users are now getting an updated UI. The new interface will segment videos better allowing for better niche categorization and searches.

VP of Product Development at Howcast, Tom Bender, highlighted the new features which aside from increasing ease of navigation will focus on the experts who create the hours of content featured on Howcast. Bender spoke glowing about the company’s acquisition policy for experts and made it very clear that “We try to find the best possible experts to work with.”

Bender wasn’t coy in detailing the fact that Howcast currently has a library of over 15,000 videos and that over 1000 videos are added each month—many of which are in ‘evergreen’ niches.

Howcast has good founding pedigree having been established in 2008 by CEO Jason Liebman. Before starting Howcast, Liebman worked at Google before taking up offices at Youtube. With such a background at the helm of the executive, the future for Howcast looks bright.
