iHeartRadio Reaches 45 Million Monthly Visitors
Online radio is doing so much better than expected. Pandora of course, leads the way but the newest kid on the block is not doing too badly either. I am talking of course about iHeartRadio who released data on its audience numbers recently.
According to the release, in the 8 months that registration has been open on the platform; over 10 million users have registered. To put that into perspective, neither Twitter nor Facebook reached their 10 millionth user within 8 months. This massive surge in registration has also gifted iHeartRadio with a whopping 45 million monthly visitors.
Driving the interest in iHeartRadio is the availability of customized listening—something only registered users can access. The heavy customization allows users to create personalized bands of channels much like premium radio service Pandora offers.
And speaking of Pandora, it looks like iHeartRadio has entered the space with the expressed intention of taking on the giant. No doubt there’s some serious funding behind iHeartRadio because no platform drives this much interest and engagement so quickly without some serious dosh.
We expect to bring more news about iHeartRadio in the coming weeks as more and more details about their setup and funding becomes available. In the meantime lovers of online radio now have another choice—and this can’t be too bad a thing.
