CafePress Acquires Logo’d Softwear Inc. For $8.3 Million
CafePress has been in the merchandising business for quite some time so it sort of makes sense that as a company it would be sitting on quite a bit of cash. Well how about $8.3 million worth of cash; that’s the amount the company has paid to acquire T-Shirt and merchandising competitor Logo’d Softwear Inc.
The terms of the deal have emerged in an amended version of the CafePress’ S-1 filing with the SEC. The amended S-1 compliments the initial IPO filing paperwork submitted by CafePress back in June of 2011. According to new earnings figures released by the company, revenues for 2011 was $175.5 million, a 3% jump on figures recorded for earnings year 2010.
The addition of Logo’d Softwear Inc. is expected to bolster CafePress’ ability to deliver print-on-demand t-shirts and other merchandise. The acquisition will also add an ecommerce capability to CafePress’ already solid online setup since Logo’d Softwear Inc. has the facility which allows users to setup their own online print shop.
The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2012, once CafePress comes out of its SEC ‘quiet period’, and I doubt the SEC will have too much to say about the deal. Once it does close, investors will have a better prospect from an investment-opportunity perspective so things should definitely pan out well for CafePress.
