Twitter Now Has 140 Million Users Who Send 340 Million Tweets Per Day
Twitter is now 6! In the short years since the micro-blogging platform came on the scene, it has helped to redefine how we share information—even helping to fomenting a few revolutions around the world in the process.
Founder Jack Dorsey was the first person to send what we now call a tweet, and so it is only fitting that he be the one to tell the world about some of the latest standing for Twitter. According to Dorsey, Twitter now has over 140 million users who combined send more than 340 million tweets a day. It looks like Twitter has really just started to hit its stride for it was only a year ago that the platform was seeing just 140 million tweets a day.
Ever since the company got a new CEO, it has been growing in leaps and bounds. Twitter now has a fully functional and extensive advertising platform and surpassed the 500 million registered users mark earlier this year. David Costolo, Twitter’s CEO has even made it public knowledge that the goal is to have more than 1 billion registered users.
No doubt Twitter will hit a billion registered users; when it does that is still anyone’s guess. The new team at the helm seems dynamic and innovative enough to make it happen so it will be interesting to watch things develop.
