Retickr Raises $1.5 Million For Another Social News Reader
Social news readers are many; that much is certain, but few cater to the growing user base of Apple’s Mac OS X. That’s why companies like Retickr are cashing in on this gap in the market so to speak.
The company announced recently that it’s just updated its platform to meet the OS X’s new release. And, if that wasn’t good news enough, the company is announcing a fresh round of funding. The latest funding round sees Retickr drawing in $1.5 million led by the Lamp Post Group, one of the initial backers that put in the $150,000 in seed money used to start the company.
Clearly by going from a 150K funding round to $1.5 million investors are saying that they think Retickr’s news reader app is a good thing, and one worthy of having decent backing. That backing would be helping something rather unique grow, because Retickr is not your typical news reading app. It actually functions as a personalization engine, combining RSS, social networking and news. This trifecta of personalization allows the app to tailor what is accessed based on the intelligence gathered from regular use.
Such intelligent design explains why Retickr is doing so well. Its developers plan to expand its reach, giving web based and mobile access in the coming months.
