LinkedIn Generates 3X More Leads Than Facebook Or Twitter

Sites include . Published on February 19th, 2012. Written by Anthony West.

If there was any arguments over which social media platform is good for generating leads, Hubspot has put the debate squarely to rest. Hubspot conducted a brief study into the effectiveness of generating leads, comparing Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

The study found that businesses that used LinkedIn to generate leads were 3x more successful than those who focused on wither Facebook or Twitter. The findings come as no surprise to many who’ve always seen LinkedIn as the marketer’s best friend for the more focused people that use the site.

But the figures don’t mean that the Facebook and Twitter crowd are to be ignored; both after all are having record years for advertising revenue. The caveat I suppose is that businesses looking to establish a rapport that will eventually convert into a sale, are better off sticking with the more business oriented users of LinkedIn—users by the way, who are very big earners. Some studies have estimated the median income for the average LinkedIn user north of $100,000. Most are college educated and have no qualms about spending their money—perhaps why they convert so well into leads.

Hubspot is a reputable marketing and Analytics Company so I am sure this study will catch the eye of a few marketers, perhaps even the fine folks over at Facebook and Twitter.
