Tumblr Surpasses 120 Million Visitors And 15 Billion Pageviews per Month

It looks like they’ll soon have to have a web show about the “rise and rise of Tumblr” because the site has seen jaw-dropping growth in the last year or so. Tumblr founder and CEO David Karp presented at the recent Digital Life Design (DLD) conference held in Munich, Germany, and gave some interesting insights into just how much the popular blogging site has grown.

According to Karp, Tumblr is now able to comfortably reach around 120 million people each month. This consistent level of visitors allows Tumblr to record at least 15 billion pageviews every month—a number which many a few years ago would have scoffed at. Today experts including journalist and Professor Jeff Jarvis are singing Tumblr’s praise. Jarvis even tweeted recently that he sees Tumblr has “The spreadable future of social media.”

Users it seems agree with Jarvis because Tumblr to date has seen over 560 people visit the site to view at least one piece of content. If you were to count repeat visits, that number would easily be in the billions. CEO, Karp credits much of Tumblr’s growth to the social aspects of the site. Each bit of content for instance is shared at least 9 times over several different mediums including Facebook and RSS.
