Channel.com Domain Name Sells For $45,000
You can’t really call a domain sale for $45,000 a weak sale, but with Channel.com going for that amount at a recent Great Domains auction, it sort of makes you question things a little bit.
The odd thing too about the sale is that the reserve for the domain wasn’t met, but was sold nonetheless. This suggests among other things that the market itself was a bit weak and the seller clearly didn’t want to turn his or her back on 45K. The reserve price itself wasn’t disclosed but judging by the inherent value of the domain I would have thought a figure of at least 100K is likely.
One sale though that is all that surprising is Zimbabwe.com which went for $45,000. This domain too didn’t meet reserve but most domineers agree that it couldn’t have fetched more than what it did. This isn’t of course an indictment on the country or its people, but just a reality of country TLDs in general.
Overall though a few sellers did well with lesser domains and so the general market vibrancy was at least present for these sales. Soulmates.com went for $20,000, while Weddingphotography.com went for $10,000.
All in all, not a bad week for domain sales.
