RateBeer Now Has Over 3.5 Million Reviews

Beer is one of those things that attract lots of emotional, almost fanatical people. These people not only drink the stuff, they like to take the time to rate how ‘good’ the beer is. It comes as no surprise then that online beer curator RateBeer.com now has over 3.5 million reviews under its belt.

The site has become a mecca for people fanatical about beer and releases its annual top 10 list much to the joy of the beer-loving community. The top beer on this years’ list is Westvleteren 12, a beer brewed in the region of Westvleteren Abdij St. Sixtus, Belgium. The top 10 list for this year was quite an eclectic mix with breweries from Germany, the US, and Russia making strong appearances in the top 10.

As an outlet and authority for beer drinkers, RateBeer has lots of clout and anything it says, gets taken almost like gospel by beer-lovers around the world. Take its appraisal of Craft Beer for instance, a blog post by RateBeer made it very clear that in another few years or so, this beer will be competing for the top spot. This statement naturally will make beer lovers flock to see if Craft Beer lives up to the hype—all the while spreading the word about RateBeer itself.
