Lady Gaga Now Has 18 Million Twitter Followers

Whatever you think of Lady Gaga, one thing is universally accepted—she’s a pop icon. This status as one of the most celebrated entertainers on the scene is evident in record sales, but it is also evident in the social media space.

The Gaga is apparently so loved that she’s become the first Twitter user to hit 18 million followers. As you’d expect, Gaga is chuffed about the achievement, even making a tweet about it. Said Gaga, “Can’t believe I have 18,000,000 TwitterMonsters, really rad, was just a few years ago I had barely any.”

Those TwitterMonsters along with the millions of YoutubeMonsters (I made that up) has helped make Lady Gaga one of the most ubiquitous entertainers online. When she’s not breaking all-time views records on YouTube, she’s smashing records on Twitter—Facebook too!

What’s incredible to observe is the pace at which she is amassing followers. In just may of 2011, she had only 10 million followers. 8 months later she’s sitting on 18 million, which means of course that she’s racking up TwitterMonsters at the rate of 1 million a month. And with a frequency like that, it’s not hard to see that from hereon in, any number that Gaga hits on Twitter will be a record.

Well, she was ‘born this way’ so anything is possible.
