Spotify Signed 300,000 Independent Labels In 2011
When the folks over at Spotify looks back at 2011, they’ll probably smile, and marvel at the tremendous success the year has brought them. Indeed, the streaming online music and media company had such a stellar year; it influenced the fortunes of even its competitors—Pandora.com being one of them.
The past year saw Spotify launch in the US, with resounding success. It also saw massive growth in membership as a result and successfully integrated Facebook onto its platform, giving other businesses the insight they need to make Facebook their traffic-driving tool for the years to come. 2011 also saw the record addition of independent talent, with Spotify successfully signing over 300,000 independent record labels to its roster.
Spotify also increased the number of tracks it adds per day to over 20,000, giving it the sort of base it needs to keep users in the 13 countries it now operates happy well into the future. All in all, it was a solid year for Spotify, and its year in review spoke to this in a big way. In the detailed listing of the year’s top tracks, names like Maroon 5, Adele, Rihanna, helped to underscore the popularity of online streaming, and the ever growing confidence of consumers to start buying music again.
