Yahoo’s Facebook Integration Brings In 500,000 Referrals Daily
It seems if you have an online traffic problem the best solution is to integrate Facebook into your setup. This option has been paid off rather nicely for big companies across the web. Spotify did it with remarkable success and now it seems to paying off big-time for Yahoo.
The struggling search giant has had success with several of its web properties and only just recently integrated Facebook’s frictionless sharing apparatus into its Yahoo News US platform. In just 2 months Yahoo News US has seen over 1 million articles shared through Facebook. But where the sharing has really helped is with referrals and Yahoo is reporting a whopping 500,000 referrals daily as a result of the integration.
As you’d expect with such spectacular results, the integration is now being rolled out across other Yahoo web properties including Yahoo News France, Yahoo News Philippines and other sites like Yahoo Movies and ‘OMG’.
It seems then that the talk of Facebook being the number one destination for all things traffic was spot on. With Yahoo and Spotify having such extraordinary success, it is only a matter of time before every man and his dog is at Facebook’s door. I just hope there is enough to go around.
