15% Of Videos That Were Watched Online Last Month Were Ads

Sites include . Published on December 24th, 2011. Written by Daniel Renfro.

The internet is an amazing and beneficial place for companies to advertise. They are able to reach a vast number of people that they probably would not have been able to before and get the word out about their company and the products and services that they offer. Companies are able to do this on their web sites, through social networking sites, and basic video or print advertisements that appear on people’s screens while they are viewing certain web sites. These advertisements could be expensive but others are fairly cheap and either way they will definitely pay the company back through the benefits it brings them from the easy advertisement.

Online advertisements are especially popular during the holiday season since many stores and companies have special offers and deals to benefit their customers and the number of online holiday shoppers are increased. Many stores and such have online video advertisements, much like commercials or the same as commercials, that appear on TV for viewers to watch and learn about sales that are going on. In fact, in the past month of November, 15% of the videos that were watched online were advertisements. This says a lot about how many businesses even have online advertisements, as well as how much they are viewed in just a months time. No doubt they are beneficial to these companies since it is the holiday season.

This is the actual statement from the article about the statistics of video advertisements and their viewing popularity:

“According to comScore’s November 2011 Online Video Rankings, video ads accounted for 15 percent of all videos viewed in November and 1.3 percent of all the minutes spent viewing online videos.”

It will be interesting to see what percentage of videos viewed in the month of December were advertisements since the holiday season is still going on.
