MyYearbook Hits 500,000 Daily Mobile Users
You’d be forgiven for thinking that a social network called MyYearbook would be struggling against the competition, especially against the biggest game in town, Facebook. But quite the opposite has been happening and the surge in popularity of MyYearbook has left many experts baffled.
As a social network, MyYearbook never really held much sway until it merged with QuePasa over a year ago. Since then the site has seen consistent growth, particularly as it relates to mobile growth among users. Today, MyYearbook boasts over 500,000 daily active mobile users and counting. The site also has over 200 million unique sessions each month.
The biggest platform in terms of user concentration is Android, followed closely by Apple iOS. The main reason for Android’s dominance is the acquisitions made last year of a large pool of applications developers’ native to the Android platform. Of course, the mobile usage success of MyYearbook is down to just smart maneuvering within the developers space; the company has also benefited from the $100 million merger with QuePasa. This union seems to be paying real dividends and is bringing together users from across both platforms.
The company is also making strides where revenue growth and posted a $32.6 million revenue figure for 2011. This is decent increase on the $23.7 million in revenues posted for the same period last year. All in all, a solid performance for MyYearbook—now all it has to do is maintain momentum.
