It is that time of year again where people are bustling about every where fulfilling their holiday duties of shopping for their loved ones. Black Friday shoppers were in their usual frenzy of finding the best deals on the products they wanted and the ones their family members had asked for. Not every one participates in the Black Friday events however, opting rather to avoid the crowds and the crazy shoppers and do their shopping closer to Christmas. Some people even opt to not go out to the mall or local department stores to shop at all, and rather shop from home online which is more convenient, cuts out on the stress, and gas prices no doubt. Online shopping has become even more popular lately as people discover its ease and benefits. Online shoppers can get the same deals as in store shoppers a lot of the time so shopping online only makes sense.

Here’s a recent report on just how popular online holiday shopping has been in the year 2011 so far:

“comScore just released its U.S. online holiday spending numbers for the season to-date, and as predicted, consumers continued to spend online in record amounts. For the first 39 days of the November to December 2011 holiday season, $24.6 billion has been spent online, which is a 15 percent increase compared to the same days last year. To put this in perspective, seven individual shopping days have surpassed $1 billion in spending, and the majority of these took place this year. Cyber Monday 2011 leads with $1.25 billion in sales, and Monday, December 5, 2011 now ranks as the second heaviest spending day in history at $1.18 billion.”

Another reason online shopping has become so popular is due to the fact that many online companies offer free shipping on their items or on orders of a certain amount. This adds to the convenience and cost-friendly factor of online shopping.
