Strapless.com Sells For $16,000
The likes of Sedo have been quiet recently but smaller aftermarkets like Afternic have been stepping up to the plate big time.
In the weekly sales report for the week ending November 4th, Afternic recorded sales of over $1.086 million, with the domain Strapless.com leading the field. Presently the domain is parked, hence the low sale price. It’s hard to tell too if any development has taken place in the last few years and the Alexa is almost non-existent in terms of relevance. Still, Strapless.com is a solid one word domain name and should do well for branding as an apparel outlet of some kind.
On wider note, it is interesting to see Afternic changing its reporting policy. Prior to the current report, confidential sales (i.e. those not reportable) and sales under $1000 were not part of the reporting criteria. With this new reporting criteria however, Afternic joins the ranks of aftermarkets like Sedo who from time to time have $1 million plus weeks—sometimes routinely. In fact, Sedo currently holds the record for weekly domain sales in terms of dollar value.
Other notable domains sold on Afternic during the reporting period include, Starbright.com which sold for a decent $10,000. All in all, a steady week for Afternic, even if they’ve had to significantly alter their reporting criteria to get there.
