Android 3.1 Update Coming for Acer, Asus, T-Mobile
Google is expected to roll out an update to their Android 3.0 Honeycomb for tablets which will be called Android 3.1 this June. Some of the tablets to get this update by June will be the Motorola Xoom, Acer Iconia A500 and the Asus EeePad Transformer.
The update will include several key features such as improved graphics acceleration, resizable widgets, improved browser interface as well as improved app switcher. Those who have tested using the update say that it rivals the experience of the iPad 2.
Although there is nothing major done on the update, people who own Honeycomb tablets are assured of a smoother experience.
Unlike Android smartphones that are currently leading at the smartphone market, Android tablets are still struggling against Apple’s iPad. Most experts think that the reason why Android tablets are having a hard time in beating the iPad is that they come at a relatively high starting price and come with limited apps to download.
What manufacturers need to do is to find a way to lower the price of their entry level model as well as create more apps to make people interested in getting Android tablets. A regular consumer would rather get the $499 iPad than a higher priced Android tablet.
