Motorola Droid X2 Set for Release Next Week

Sites include , . Published on May 18th, 2011. Written by Chad Buenaflor.

The Droid X2 might be released on Verizon’s network starting on May 26. That is if a leaked internal document with the release schedule will be followed. The original Motorola Droid is Verizon’s most popular Android smartphone to date and the successor is expected to perform the same way.

There is still no news about the price for the Droid X2 however experts predict that it may come with a $200 price tag with a two year contract.

The Motorola Droid X2 will be the latest smartphone of Motorola that will succeed the original Droid. It will run straight out of the box on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will have several key hardware upgrades.

The processor used will be a dual core 1 GHz Tegra. Its 4.3 inch touch screen will come with a resolution of 960×540 pixels. It still has the same internal onboard memory of 8 GB as the original Droid but will now come with a pre-installed 8 GB microSD.

What’s missing in this model like the original Droid is a front facing camera which sadly Motorola didn’t include.

The Droid X2 is a 3G smartphone thus it will not be able to use Verizon’s faster 4G network.
