Microsoft Interested To Buy Skype For $7 Billion
So you thought only Facebook and Google were interested in Skype? It seems that OS giant Microsoft is also interested in acquiring the Internet phone service company for a whopping $7 billion. Reports from insiders say that Microsoft and Skype are currently in negotiations and a statement will be released soon, possibly this week, by both companies.

Although Microsoft has its own voice over IP platform called Lync which is used as a business messaging and audio video tool, the addition of Skype which is popular worldwide does make sense. It is also an excellent business move if only to keep Skype away from Facebook and Google who are also interested on it.
There are still no updates as of now on this deal since both companies refuse to comment this early.
Why the sudden interest in Skype when the company lost $7 million last year? It is mainly because of its technology that makes it attractive to integrate into various services. Just imagine if you could call your friends at Facebook using a Skype button in the page, this would really be very attractive and could further boost the number of users at Facebook. Google on the other hand could use Skype by integrating it into their Google Apps to make a great communication tool.
