Viber Offers Free Calls, Text Messages and More

Viber Media is an Israeli company with a service that competes with Skype. The Viber service lets iPhone users make free calls. It recently released version 2.0, which is available in the App Store. The company stated that an Android app is in the works.
The Viber version 2.0 for the iPhone has several new features, which include sending text messages to other Viber users. There are several messaging apps for the iPhone but this one combines both text messaging and voice calls in one.
Viber 2.0 has a new tab called Messages, where the users can see the messages and where they can compose new messages to send to their contacts. The app sends out a push message to notify the user of a new text, which can be a replacement for SMS.
In the new Viber version the Contacts tab underwent a design makeover. It lets the users filter through their contact list and find the ones using Viber. The users can also select their favorites among their contacts.
Viber also improved on their voice call mechanism. Once the user place a call, Viber will go into a Calling state. Once the other party’s phone begins ringing then it will enter the Ringing state.

When I am in another country and want to use Viber to call home, do I need to make sure my G3 is disabled and only use WiFi so that I’m not charged by my carrier?
